Having seen many retirement scenarios over the years, we came to realize that when it was time to make important retirement decisions, we felt there were very few advisors who could help guide people through the retirement maze.

Large broker-dealers are focused on transactional relationships and asset gathering. We wanted our clients to experience a more personal relationship built on trust, integrity, and solutions. It was then that we realized we needed to create this environment on our own. Thus, our boutique firm known as Millstone Financial Group was born.

Our mission is to help retirees on an individual basis and guide them through retirement with a trusted advisor.

We are fiduciaries; therefore, we are held to the Fiduciary Standard to do what is in the best interest of the client above all else.


As a boutique firm, we can provide individual strategies based on each client’s unique financial situation. We believe no client is the same; thus, we only create custom plans.

Our Leadership

Don Albach

Don has worked in the financial services industry for his entire professional career. Throughout every phase of Don’s career, he has focused on retirement planning. From implementing small to medium-sized company 401(k) Profit Sharing Plans to establishing an IRA for individual clients, Don has seen most aspects of the retirement planning process. Don’s role at Millstone Financial Group is to work with clients to create Retirement Income Planning strategies that help guide them towards financial peace of mind.

Don graduated from Norwich University, “the nation’s oldest private military college,” in 1986. Upon graduation, Don went directly to work in New York City joining First Boston’s International Investment Group. From there Don moved on to MetLife where he spent the next 11 years working with employer group 401(k) plans. It was during this time that Don realized, while people were able to save for retirement, they had very little understanding of how to navigate through the complexities of retirement. In 2012 Don decided to separate from MetLife and established Millstone Financial Group.

Don currently lives in Monroe Township, NJ with his wife, Tina, whom he has been married to since 1992. They have three children together, Paige, Donny, and Ally. Don’s two passions are sailing and watching college football. He also enjoys cooking Sunday dinner for his family.


Michael T. Russo

Mike has over 28 years of experience in the financial services industry, including over 10 years as an Investment Advisor Representative. This experience has afforded Mike the knowledge to help his clients meet their financial and retirement goals. He has seen all too often that many families don’t have a plan to get them through retirement without outliving their income. At Millstone Financial Group, Mike’s purpose is to help his clients not only understand the investments they own, but to provide his clients with what we believe are sound investment management philosophies and proven retirement distribution strategies.

Mike graduated from Montclair State University with a degree in Business Administration, majoring in finance. He immediately went to work on Wall Street for Brown Brothers Harriman. During his tenure at Brown Brothers Harriman, Mike was recruited to work as an asset-based financial advisor at Metlife, where he spent the next 12 years. It was there that Mike developed his passion for the financial markets, portfolio analysis, and asset allocation. In 2012, Mike moved on from Metlife to begin the process of creating Millstone Financial Group. Mike’s main responsibility is managing the firm’s assets. He is an Investment Advisor and a Fiduciary which means he’s legally obligated to do what is in the best interest of the client, always. Above all else, Mike’s goal is to help clients minimize overall risk exposures and create personalized investment management strategies.

Mike was raised in a modest household, where family always came first. He attributes his success to both of his parents who were hard working. They instilled core values and integrity which he prides himself on every day.

Mike has been married to his wife Maryann since 1992. They reside in Howell with their three children, Matt, Craig, and Kellie. Mike is an avid sports fan and golfer. He is also a member of Battleground Country Club and enjoys being out on the course or having dinner with good friends and clients.

Barry is a Certified Financial Planner and has worked in the financial services industry since 1984. Having over 30 years of experience helping individuals with comprehensive financial planning, Barry’s expertise includes retirement income planning, social security income planning, 401k and IRA distribution strategies, as well as estate planning.
